The official name is " Ap Bia Mountain". Those who fought there called it "Hamburger Hill".

I worked in FDC during the closing months of 1971 in the 2/11 firing 155's at Upshot and Arsenal. After standown I went to FDC the heavies of the 2/94 at NAC, Baldy, & Ross until my unit stood down and we left for the real world. I ran the last missions for both units before standown. Anyone out there from either FDC units that I haven't heard from?

I offer a clip from my personal diary: "July 1968 ...my new unit in Dong Ha. ...before being assigned to one of our unit's outposts." "Aug 1968 I rode as ‘rear gunner’ on a jeep to my new home thirteen miles north. The official name of my destination was “Hill 46”. This ‘outpost’ was commonly referred to as Gio Linh."

Greetings to Capt. Rochelle. I was your jeep driver/mail clerk/PLL Clerk/temp Supply Sergeant(I signed for the TO&E) after Sgt Hannigan left. I kept two sets of books on the PLL with our badly needed "contraband oversupply". This way, we got Service Battery badly needed overinflated deuce and a half tubes for their 5 ton tires. Hope you are doing well. I flew home on Ho Chi Minh's birthday with shrapnel in our plane.

In November of 1968 I assigned to A Battery at LZ Sandy. Worked in FTC but did spend a few months with HHB at FB Whip and Camp Sally for training. Moved all over the Valley. I popped smoke and circled the base when I flew out in January 1970.

When I was assign to the unit all the slots were full. I was than sent to the ammo and the other guy that I was became the 1st sargent's driver. After awhile one of the cooks went AWOL and I was than a cook.

I pulled into Nancy the day after sapper attack. Dinks piled up at the gate on QL1. Attached to A trp 2/17th/101st as AO May 70 to Sept 70. During monsoons Oct HHB as FDO. A btry exec Dec/Jan.( Barbara) 108th HHB a AO (Catkillers)for Lam Son 719.I also spent some time at (Carroll)FDO.

I came into Kilo 4-11 from C 1-11. We were in The sand pit later moved to Hill 65. I was with gun 1 then, later went with FO then battery recorder, I was crew chief for gun 4. Until rotated home Dec 67. Any one know what came of Michels AKA Jaws, JC, Steve Zun, Hector AKA worm, williams form lopoc Ca?

I was on the gun with Sgt. Dean Lazzaro and later SSgt. Edwards as gun chiefs. We served on Firebase Rawhide( Hill 65), 2 gun jumps to Hill 351, Hill 64(on Laotion Border), Fat City and last at the North Arty Compound outside of Da Nang.I would like to hear from anyone from the unit.

I started out in Phu Bai and was chosen to command the best Artillerymen in I Corps, C 6/33. We supported the Marines and 5th Mech from Mai loc and LZ Fuller (next to Rock Pile). I ended my tour as SVC Brty BC and was the last member when 6/33 stood down.

Served as FO with A Co 1/501st then Fire Direction Officer with 105 battery. Nickname was Red Baron.

I am trying to assist Earsel Haney with a VA claim. He was in A btry 5/27 form 08/66 to 08/67. He says he was attached to the 101st. Around January 1967,the veteran saw one of his comrades give a child a piece of candy and the child threw a bomb into his lap killing him. Does anyone have any information that could help me verify this incident?
