Resolution No.
654
INCLUDE DENTAL
CARE AS PART OF THE
VETERANS
UNIFORM BENEFITS PACKAGE
WHEREAS, in
October 1996, Congress passed Public Law 104-262, the Veterans’
Health Care
Eligibility Reform Act of 1996; and
WHEREAS, this
legislation provided the mechanism for creation of the Veterans
Uniform
Benefits Package – a standard, enhanced health care benefit plan that
offers all
enrolled veterans a full continuum of comprehensive health care
through the
Department of Veterans Affairs; and
WHEREAS, the
Veterans Uniform Benefits Package emphasizes preventive and
primary care,
offering a full range of outpatient and inpatient services to
all veterans
but neglects to include one of the most needed services for an
aging veteran
population, which is dental care; now, therefore
BE IT
RESOLVED, by the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, that we
urge Congress
to authorize and fund VA to provide dental care to all enrolled
veterans as a
part of their Veterans Uniform Benefits Package.
