Drove ammo trucks to artillery units on the DMZ. Served with Sgt Manual, Vespucci, Gomez, Rossi, Slaydek, Kellerher, MacHaney, Gori, Smith,and Sgt Feliciano. Sgt Vespucci and I have been best of friends for 37 years since meeting in Ft Dix.

I was assigned to C Btry 1/40 when it formed at Ft. Sill. I shipped out with the battalion to Da Nang, and then we convoyed to Dong Ha. I served as a gun chief with C Btry for the entire time I was in Viet Nam. Sorry I had to leave early guys, but there were discharge papers waiting for in at Ft. Lewis, Washington, and I didn't want to miss out. I would like to hear from you.

We were basterd outfits, were picked out of the repo deot in Cam Rahn Bay in Sept 67, sent to Phu Cat for training and were deployed to Dong Ha in Nov 67 attached to the 1/40th and 3rd Marines, First at OP 250 N of Camp Carroll, then at Alpha 2 (DMZ), TET was a real blast.

I WAS ASSIGNED TO B BTRY. FROM THERE I WAS ATTACHED TO A TROOP 3\5 TH ARMOR 9TH INF, AS AN FO. I JOINED THE TROOP AT LZ CHARLIE BROWN OVER LOOKING THE A SHAU. WE SPENT THE NEXT 80 OR 90 DAYS WORKING THE VALLEY FROM NORTH TO SOUTH AND BACK. I BELIEVE C BTRY WAS WITH US FOR PART OF THE TIME. I THINK MY RECON SGT WAS GEORGE McLAUGHLIN. I CANNOT REMEMBER WHO MY RTO WAS. I LEFT THE TROOP IN LATE SEPT AND ENDED UP MY TOUR WITH AL TORCO IN THE MOTOR POOL.

Battery clerk for HHB. Located in battalion personnel building. Everyone refers to the base as Camp Carroll. The battalion sign in the headquarters area said Camp Murden. When was the name changed?
