Military Presence in Congress Declining
Subject: Military Presence in Congress Declining.
Greetings to all:
The Non-Commissioned Officers Association has declared that there is a
steady decline of military veterans in Congress.
104th Congress 1995-96, Senate 54% House 36%
105th Congress 1997-98, Senate 48% House 32%
106th Congress 1999-2000 Senate 43% House 31%
For the first time since the 81st Congress 1949-50 that veteran percentages
in both chambers fell below 50% during the 105th Congress.
NCOA urges all able veterans to consider running for elected office at all
levels of government.
